| SATIR MODEL FAMILY THERAPY ONE DAY INTENSIVE TRAINING 2009
The Satir Centre of Australia is an accredited clinical, educational and family therapy training affiliate whose mission is to support, connect and empower people and organisations through the Satir Growth Model to respect differences, transform conflicts, develop possibilities and enable people to take responsibility for their lives, health, work and relationships. The Satir Centre of Australia is a training affiliate of The Virginia Satir Global Network, the Virginia Satir Family Therapy Network. This programme is under the personal direction of Dr. Sandra E. S. Neil, Director of The Satir Centre of Australia. Dr. Robert L. N. Silverberg will run some sessions involving the relationship between physical and emotional help, and family well-being.
The Satir Centre of Australia will award a Certificate of Satir Model Therapy to participants.

- transforming beliefs about the self to bring about
new possibilities
- Coping Stances: The Defences
- using coping stances for diagnosis, assessment,
and planning for change
- understanding the steps towards congruence
- transforming responses from survival-based coping
to balance and growth
- Ingredients of Interactions
- identifying the seven basic ingredients of all
interactions
- planning interventions to enhance communication
and congruence
- Mapping the Person/Family/Organisation
- using the family map to discover patterns of belief,
rules and values, as well as the wheel of influence,
and life fact chronology
- advanced family mapping, including the Chessboard
technique (Neil & Silverberg)
- Sculpting
- sculpting family and group patterns as therapeutic
interventions, using the Satir Model, the Chessboard
technique, and an abbreviated family reconstruction
method
- The Management of Change
- using meditation, humour and metaphor to effect
change
- using oneself as the metaphor for change
- process by which touching changes the other(s)
- Using the Negative and Positive 'Parts'
- a very important vehicle designed by Satir to facilitate
recognition and acceptance of the parts of self and
